Two Firefighters Suffer Minor Injuries Battling Grain Dryer Fire in Galesburg, IL

GALESBURG, Illinois — A grain bin dryer fire at a food production facility in Galesburg, IL on Friday morning sent two firefighters to the hospital with minor injuries, according to a Peoria Journal-Star report.

The fire was reported about 9:30 a.m., and firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the dryer at the food production facility.

A pair of firefighers scaled a catwalk to attack the fire from the top of the bin, but an explosion knocked them down before they could get into position. They were treated and released from a local hospital.
