ADM Resumes Deliveries at Corn Processing Plant in Wake of Fire

ADM has resumed deliveries and "normal operations" at a corn processing plant within its industrial complex in Decatur, Ill., following a recent fire, the company said Wednesday.

An explosion and fire September 10 at the ADM East Plant in the complex resulted in the facility and the adjacent corn processing plant being taken down. The plant produces soybean oil and white flake for soybean protein production.

"We remain on track to restart the majority of protein production at the East Plant in the coming weeks," a company official told OPIS.

"Three colleagues remain in the hospital, while two have been able to return home in recent days."

The Decatur Fire Department said that it arrived to find "severe damage to a couple of buildings."

Eight workers were injured, it added, and four Medivac helicopters were utilized to airlift at least a portion of them to trauma centers.
