Child Rescued in Grain Bin Accident on Farm, Flown to Medical Center

Franklin County Dispatch confirmed that firefighters responded to a farm accident on Tuesday.

In a Facebook post, The New Franklin Volunteer Fire Department said they dispatched two engines and a truck to a farm on Newcomer Rd. at 5:51 p.m.

When units arrived, they discovered a person stuck in an auger, the long tube used to transport grain from the top of a grain bin to the ground.

The Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department, who assisted in the rescue, posted on their Facebook that the person trapped was a child.

The fire department says units were able to cut the auger framework, remove the person stuck inside and apply a tourniquet.

After the rescue, the individual was flown by helicopter to a medical center.

The New Franklin Volunteer Fire Department confirmed on Wednesday that the rescued individual was conscious and alert throughout the rescue process.
