One person left with minor injuries after explosion causes elevator fire in Minnesota

CHANDLER, M.N. (Dakota News Now) - On Wednesday, crews were called to the scene of a grain elevator fire in Chandler, Minnesota just after 12:30 p.m.

Details are limited, but officials said multiple fire departments from the area responded and one person was reported injured.

According to the Murray County Sheriff, the fire was caused by an explosion.

“We know there was one person injured, nothing serious at this time,” said Sheriff Heath Landsman. “They were taken to a local hospital as a precaution. Other than that, we immediately called for mutual aid from surrounding agencies. We knew we were going to need aerial trucks, light towers. There’s a company coming, I think out of South Dakota to help us dismantle the elevator to get the fire that’s inside.”

Crews hope to begin dismantling the remains of the bin on Thursday.
