Stand Up 4 Grain Safety Week ... March 25-29

The Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS), Grain Handling Safety Council (GHSC), National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will host their 2024 Stand Up 4 Grain Safety (SU4GS) Week March 25-29.

Topics for the week of free virtual presentations include:

  • Kickoff Event (March 25, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. CT): Hosted by the South Dakota Grain Bin Engulfment Prevention Summit in Mitchell. Safety demonstrations presented by industry leaders from Agtegra Cooperative, Oklahoma State University, OSHA Region 8, Prairie Ag Partners, and South Dakota University Extension OSHA Consultation to showcase key aspects of grain bin safety.
  • Tuesday (March 26, 10-11 a.m.): “Building a Safety Culture” by Brad Bousquet, vice president of safety and compliance, Central Valley Ag Coop.
  • Wednesday (March 27, 10-11 a.m.): “Strains, Sprains, MSDs” by Douglas Clark, CSP, corporate leader for environmental health and safety, Jack Link’s. Also available in Spanish in the afternoon.
  • Thursday (March 28, 10-11 a.m.): “Ladder Safety” by Aaron Yoder, Ph.D., associate professor, Department of Environmental, Agricultural, and Occupational Health, University of Nebraska Medical Center and Nebraska Extension. Also available in Spanish in the afternoon.
  • Friday (March 29, 10-11 a.m.): “Heat and Extreme Temperatures,” by Casey Abel, director of safety, King Ranch, and Ben Avila, president/owner, Provident Safety Consulting Services, Inc. Also available in Spanish in the afternoon.
