Missouri Firefighters Battle Blaze on Grain Elevator’s Conveyor Belt Overnight

Firefighters in Hardin, MO, spent the entire night battling a blaze on the conveyor belt of a grain elevator.

The Hardin, Mo., Fire Protection District says that on Wednesday night, March 27, Tanker 77 had been headed back to the station from a call for aid on a trailer fire near Orrick when the crew was notified of another emergency.

Firefighters said a blaze had sparked in the grain conveyor system at Ray-Carroll. A large section of the conveyor belt had caught fire.

Crews said they battled the inferno throughout the night and into the next morning.

Finally, with the help of four other departments, - the Richmond Fire Department, Lexington Fire Department, Wood Heights Fire Department and Norborne Fire Department - the blaze was extinguished around 5:45 a.m. on Thursday.

Firefighters did not have a damage estimate immediately available and did not report any injuries as a result of the incident.
